Please someone help me find an alternative to BT for supplying the services I need:

a. Telephone.
b. Broadband.

You need to indicate where you are physically expecting service.

NTL if they are available in your area.
Telewest if they are available in your area
Bulldog (for your DSL) if it's available in your area.
Or perhaps you could move to Hull (forgotten what that one is
called)..

Do you see a little pattern emerging???

Many, well some, broadband suppliers specify that you need a BT line
to get their service.

Remember, BT still owns the exchanges. Well, maybe not owns, as they
probably sold the real estate to some cowboy outfit in the Cayman
Islands, a lesson they learned from the Inland Revenue, but they still
manage them, if that isn't an abuse of the word manage.
