Ok, so I spent a total of twelve hours trying to configure
the network connection between a Win95 machine and my ME
machine with a Cable Modem. Finally, with the Amazing
amount of information from praticallynetworked.com I
succeeded. Both machines connected to the internet via
ICS on the ME machine, for about two weeks. Yesterday,
the Win95 machine no longer responed to the LAN
connection. I have checked and double checked all
settings. The NIC is working properly in both machines.
The ME machine has no problem connecting to the internet.
I have verified that there is enough memory on the Win95
machine for the NIC. I have three questions:
What the HELL! is the first
The second would be: how do you use the restore disk I
made at the time I actually got the network connection to
work?
The third question is: Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance for ANY help you can give me!
ANA

A Router was part of the original configuration. I went
from the ME PC to the router; the ME PC to my Cable Modem
and my win95 PC was set to the IP address of my second NIC
card that was plugged into the router. So I guess what you
are saying is my Router has crapped out?

I have no idea what you were doing with all those wires.

Using a router is very simple. 1 NIC in each PC.

Attach ONE wire from each PC to a spot on the router.

Attach ONE wire from the Cable Modem to the WAN/Internet port on the router.

That's all you have to do. For most people, leaving everything set to AUTO
on all PCs and the router means it is really Plug and Play. If you changed
anything, I suggest you return all settings back to factory default and
remove unnecessary hardware (ie, more than one Network Interface Card) from
each PC before going forward with trying to 'repair' it.
