Ah-hoc problems

I have a Dell800 with a built-in Dell TrueMobile 1300 WLAN Mini-PCI
Card. I also have a Micron TransPort ZX with a Linksys Instant
Wireless PCMCIA card. Both are configured for ad-hoc to the same
channel, SSID, and other configurations and obtain IP automatically.
Their lights are on and I can see that there are sendt and received
packages. The problem is that can't ping from/to any of them. I was
able to see the workgroup of one computer but could not access it.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem? Definitely the cards see each
other but the problem is at the TCPIP level, I believe.
ANy help will be greatly appreciated.

You are right your problem is at the tcp/ip

More specifically THEY DONT HAVE AN IP.

waht ip are you "pinging to"

do this set your first card to this ip 10.10.10.1 subnet mask
255.255.255.0

set you second device ip to 10.10.10.100

subnet mask 255.255.255.0
and try again

Adhoc doesnt assign IP's you need a DHCP for that but you dont have
one. so set them manually.
