Hi All,

I've got a card from Agere that has an 'Act as Basestation' option. When
I use this mode I see it show up as an Accesspoint in another client and
I can connect at the radio level. But for the rest i can't get any
communication going - not a single ping.

I understand that the card will only do 'basic' AP functions, but for
the rest information is scarce. Does anyone know if i need some other
software or settings?

The (old) laptop is running W98, would Win 2k do better?

-hh-

You probably need Internet Connection Sharing, available on Win98SE and
above.

To make it usefull - yes.
But I think I need to get ping working first.

Unless you've assigned fixed IP addresses, Gateway, and a few other things,
ping isn't going to work until you get a DHCP server running. ICS will give
you a DHCP server which will take care of all of that.

I am trying this with fixed IP# on both sides and experimented a little
with gateway etc. I also tried WinRoute (not ICS) but no success.

I tried to make an ad-hoc setup that is as close as possible in
configuration and then I do have ping contact.

The problem remains that while there seems to be a radio link to the
laptop AP there is no TCP connection.
