aerial or wap or repeater

Hi

I have a Dlink G700AP WAP connected to a Sitecom wirless router connected
to a ethernet broadband connection. The G700 is connected to an ANT24 Dlink
aerial to transmit to premises across the road. Across the road is another
wireless PCI card hooked up to another ANT24 aerial. All works reasonable
well but across the road, I need to run a couple of laptops by wireless. I
bought a Dlink G900AP+ from a salesman and could not get it to work. I have
now been advised by Dlink that this will not work with the G700.

Anyone have any ideas on what I need - someone said a repeater, another said
an external aerial. Total distcance is probably 80 meters tops in a straight
line
