I'm using news.individual.net, and that has a very direct connection to
Giganews. It also gets stuff from theplanet.net via t-online.de and so
there's a pretty decent route to Giganews right there.
But I have known ISP news servers go into a sulk, and just not pass
stuff to the rest of the internet for what seems like ages. They accept
an article, and might not let even their own customers see it. So it
doesn't greatly surprise me that somebody can post a message and it
vanishes.
One reason I get my news connection where I do is that they know much
more than my ISP about how to run a news server. This isn't quite the
compliment it might be, as the starting point is so low.
