Hi to you all,

Can someone tell me if there are any advantages when using a wireless 3 in 1
device (like the Draytek Vigor 2600WE with an integrated
modem/router/switch/access point) against a sperate non-wireless router
connected to an USB ADSL modem and access point.

Thanks to you all,

Ivar Boer

If you have separate adsl modem and wifi router it allows more flexibility
in positioning the AP / computer.
Also, you could replace / update individual items if need be.
But all in one are easier to set up, less wire clutter too.
Regards,
Martin

There is no good reason to buy a USB modem and very good reason not to.

a 3 in 1 device will have the external IP address allocated to it, if
you go for a multi box solution you often find the modem/router has
the external IP address and some of the other boxes lose out on
functionality because they are behind the NAT of the first box. You
also have to rationalise how to run multiple DHCP servers and NAT
systems on the same network - some devices will do this for you,
others require effort.
