Hi there,

Despite being 5.5km long, my line loss is 63.4db which is screwing up any
attempt I make at getting ADSL installed.

I came across this on the ADSLguide forums, from a guy who claims to be
involved with an internal BT trial of ADSL on lines with loss up to 65db.
People I've spoken to about this claim it to be false.

http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/showflat...&Number=860245
&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0&fpart=

I wondered if anyone hear had heard of such a trial, and had any further
information on it or could confirm whether it was genuine?

Thanks.

The only trial at the moment is the 'extended reach' one which doesn't
go up to 65db, so I'm afraid your friend is talking out of that which
he sits upon...

How do you know there isn't an internal BT(wholesale) trialing up to
65dBm?

There is a definite public trial of lines with loss up to 60dB (which BT
have just announced is a success and will go live shortly).

There are no known trials of any further increases in line loss, though of
course there might be an internal BT trial, who knows.
