I *think* I understand the question!
The presence of inadequately filtered phone equipment on the line can
sometimes interfere with the ADSL signal, and stop it synching.
If the ADSL equipment is plugged directly into the master socket's test
socket with the faceplate removed, there's no possibility of any phone
equipment being connected - so this gives the ADSL signal the best possible
chance.
If you now replace the faceplate, plug in a microfilter, connect the ADSL
equipment to the filter's (unfiltered) ADSL socket and plug a phone into the
filter's BT-type socket, this should also work provided the filter is of
good quality. Note though that if there is extension wiring connected to the
back of the faceplate - feeding sockets with phones plugged in, these
extension sockets must also be filtered.
