ADSL - Sky - ADSL Question

My mother had a normal ADSL broadband connection through her phone line.
She then cancelled and went with SKY via satellite (not a pleasant
experience)
She has now cancelled SKY and wants to return to broadband via her phone
line.

Questions:

- does she have to get her phone line "enabled" again, or is she ready for
simple sign up and off?
- Which reliable, cheapish ISP should she choose?

Thanks,

Steve

As far as I'm aware, SKY doesn't provide Broadband via satellite, TV yes,
Broadband and Sky Telephone are via your telephone landline, either via BT
line or an unbundled BT exchange in which SKY have placed their own
equipment, so her BT line should still be connected or she still has a SKY
phone installed.
Reliable and Cheap are mutually exclusive, you pay for what you get.
I use Virgin ADSL Max and have a good solid connection with download speeds
of 6.5 to 7 mbps.

If the ADSL has been taken off then you will have to wait for the line
to be reactivated. But the ISP should be able to tell you buty it is
unlikley that they will simply be able to switch it back on.
In terms of cheap supplier if you just after a connection with very
very little support that TalkTalk and orange broadband might be an
option. TalkTalk is probally better than orange but they are both
very bad at customer service. If you want good service, meaning the
company will help you if there are problems, i would try smaller
companies like Zen, Be, etc. Check out this link to see what you can
get: http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php
I assume by satillite server uyou mean the Sky Connect package?

Thanks to those who replied. I was mistaken about broadband over satellite,
as you pointed out.
My mother is going back to Tesco (?), and they have confirmed a 5 day wait
to have the line enabled.
