I've been trawling the net for the last couple of hours, trying to find an
ADSL router (i.e router with ADSL modem integrated) with wireless networking
and traffic shaping (I'd like to be able to prioritise certain traffic, such
as SSH connections ot online gaming traffic). So far the only possibility
seems to be the as-yet-unreleased Draytek Vigor 2600G, however the taiwanese
site at
http://www.draytek.com.tw/english/pr...ter_voip_g.php
says it has "Bandwith Management Facilities " , but the UK site (
http://www.draytek.co.uk/products/vigor2600g.html ) mentions nothing of
this. It also seems to have a whole load of other features that I have no
intention of using that I'm sure will add to the cost.
So the question is, am I asking too much for one device that can do all the
above? I am tempted to go the old pc running Linux route, but the neatness
of a single device would be nice. The other question is, is the traffic
shaping/Qos stuff on any of these type of devices any good? I read a review
of a Linksys (non-wireless) router in which the traffic shaping feature
didn't impress the reviewer.
Thanks for any help,
Zindon
