ADSL Router doesn't like Linux DNS requests

Recently I resuscitated my descktop with a new hard drive and knoppix.

It works fine but the router doesn't like it, it treats all replies
from my ISP's nameserver as an "attack".

Any suggestions as to what I can do. Should the router be set as my
nameserver?
Or should I just be looking more at programming the router to ignore
DNS traffic?
All the routing tables appear to be done automatically, and point to
the two IP addresses
of my ISP's nameservers.

Yes. That way it can serve names of machines on your network whose IP
addresses have been obtained from the DHCP server on your router (if
there is one).

No. Otherwise your DNS queries may never be answered.
