Demon in NW London will surely be LLU, so 21CN is a red herring.

Just found your web site, and who you work for, so I accept you'll know
all about your connection.
[ My time at Demon ended shortly after the takeover by your lot. ]

It looks like I'm going to have to do this - my line has been remade
from the building's junction box, new NTE, still same problem. Router
alone on line still gives exactly the same problem. Will see if I can
dig my old one out and try it.
