I am a student and a group of my friends have moved into a house. We
want an adsl service but not for the minimum 1 year period. Can we still
get adsl?!

There's plenty that offer 1month contracts.
Pipex/Zen/Nildram/etc

Most have a fee you'll have to pay to get out within first 12mths. I'm sure
someone can advise better on that.

If you want really cheap-as-chips ADSL, how about
http://metronet.co.uk/adsl/paygo
512Kbps
Min - £10/month
Max - £23.99/month
(ex vat)
I can't vouch for the service. I just saw the site the other day, and notice
they offer PAYG.

http://www.adslguide.org.uk/ is a good place to go searching for a provider.

Best of luck

Baz

Virgin has a no strings one month contract - i.e. no termination penalty.
Also connection is free to begin with and the monthly fees are £24.99
inclusive.

Several providers (including us) offer ADSL on contracts with a lower
minimum term.

Ours is two months.

I've just done the same thing - we got Force 9 (www.force9.co.uk) ADSL on a
monthly contract. We're actually on the 2Mbit so are paying £60 a month
between us, and had to pay £70.50 activation because of having the monthly
contract. For 512k I think its £21 a month with the same activation fee.

I wonder how much Virgin's 1mbit product will be?
