ADSL Modem/Router as gateway to Cable?

My niece has a Philips SNA6500 wireless ADSL modem/router that her
wireless-enabled laptop uses as a gateway to the internet via her ISP
Pipex - so far, so good.

She's going to be spending a couple of weeks at her grandma's house and they
get internet access from a cable company (www.wightcablenorth.net in
Carlisle, UK). If she takes her laptop and her router with her, will she be
able to use the laptop wirelessly to access the internet?

I understand that she'll not be able to use the ADSL side of the router but
would it be possible to connect her router to the cable router by using the
ethernet ports, the cable router would then act as the gateway to the
internet, and the wireless side of her router would allow her to use her
laptop around her grandma's house - if that makes sense? )

And if it should work, would it need a straight cable or a crossover cable
between the two routers?

Cheers,

John.

| Just a cable modem Dave,
|
| John.

She can bring the "Philips SNA6500 wireless ADSL modem/router" with her but ONLY if the
Modem part is disable and it is used as a Router only.

Otherwise, I suggest buying a Router and setting it up at Grandma's house. They are
inexpensive and NAT adds a layer of security in the way it acts as a simplistic FireWall.
