ADSL migration noob question

Hi, I'm thinking of moving from Zen to ADSL24 but am unsure of the
process for doing this. I would like to make sure I don't end up
without a net connection, so it would be great if ADSL24 could take
over straight from Zen. Is there a best way for going about this.

Can I just call ADSL24 and sign up (or do it on the website) and they
will take care of everything? Or do I have to go to Zen first, tell
them to cancel my connection on a certain date and then go to ADSL24
and ask them to take over my line from that date?

Where does getting my MAC code come it to all this ?

Sorry if the questions are noobish, I have never had to migrate
before.

thanks

Harry

You ask for a MAC first. ADSL24 shouldn't accept a migration order without one.

The 'handover' should be transparent. When it happens, your connection with Zen
will lose authentication and you'll have to enter your new login details in your
dialer / router (depending how you connect). Zen have a one month contract so
it'll be in your interest to time the handover so you haven't just paid another
month's subscription just as the conenction changes over. ADSL24 are the people
to ask regarding the timing of it.

Many thanks for the real fast reply. Fingers crossed it all works
out. Just one further question, when I ask Zen for my MAC code, is
this the same as telling them I'm leaving or would I have to tell them
that too?

Given that there's only one reason for asking for one ......

I'd ask them about your month's notice period when requesting the MAC. That should
make it fairly obvious.
