ADSL MAX and very varying Noise Margin

I am about 4.7 km from the exchange.
I get a solid 1 Meg with Pipex Solo 1000, which is uncapped and gives
webspace and newsgroups.

Router is Netgear DG834v2 with latest firmware.
Attenuation is 49.
Noise Margin varies wildly between 9 and 20.

Would a different router give better figures?
Is it worth changing to MAX?
Would ADSL MAX keep up with the varying Noise Margin and hence give me
good speeds when the margin was high?
Pipex is a bit expensive for MAX - which ISP would you recommend?

Your line just *might* sustain 2Mb/s.
Different router is unlikely to help, attention to internal wiring and
filtering might.
MAX is supposed to adapt to your line and give you best possible speed.
Lots of ISP's do a free MAX upgrade, but AFAIK none is truly uncapped.

Martin
