ADSL line performance

Could somebody advise me about the following line stats. It seems to me that
they are quite poor but I might not be understanding what's happening.

I'm beginning to suffer from reduced sync rate during peak times which is why
I'm looking. I'm using a D-Link DSL-300T modem on DSL-MAX servvice. It reports
the following:

Modem Status
Connection Status Connected
Upstream Rate (Kbps) 448
Downstream Rate (Kbps) 7360
US Margin 20
DS Margin 7
Modulation GDMT
LOS Errors 0
DS Line Attenuation 26
US Line Attenuation 22
Path Mode Interleaved

What's troubling me is the DS atten of 26dB but a DS margin of only 7dB. I
think margin is equivalent to SNR (?) which suggests there's a lot of noise
coming from somewhere.

I've seen it suggested that performance like this might be due to house wiring
problems. Is this likely? What should I be looking for?

Any guidance appreciated.

Dick

If you are on a MAX package don't sweat it as the standard default threshold
is 6dB for your DS margin. Start getting worried if your service (if older
than 2 weeks) is unstable, drops out or just stalls then you will need to
get in touch with your ISP.

Don't worry, be happy...

Depending on his ISP he may only actually be getting 10kbps sometimes.
