My exchange is going to be ADSL enabled in mid February and have pre
registered with PlusNet. Because I needed a wireless access point I bought
myself a D-Link DSL 604+. It is being used simply as a wireless access point
at the moment even though it is correctly connected to the phone line with
the appropriate filters. I have been using it for a few weeks and it works
well. Today for the first time I have noticed the ADSL light flicker quite a
few times during the day. The question is why. I have checked the on
adslguide.org.uk and the activation date is shill the 18th Feb.

The router is trying to synch to the exchange so the LED flickers. But if
your using dialup or ISDN while its active then it wont as both cant work at
the same time on the same line.

There's no problem in using a conventional analogue dial up modem at the
same time as using ADSL, and AIUI ADSL and ISDN can't work together on
the same line. Don't know which LED is flickering but suspect it's just
line noise.

Having just spent the whole of new year waiting for AOL to escalate a
non connected line which turned out that they had provisioned the
wrong number but their CS are apparantly not easily able to find this
out, I can confirm that the modem flickers frequently.
