adsl keeps dropping

During the last week my adsl connection keeps dropping and then
reconnecting. Sometimes 2 or 3 times in an hour.

I have a conexant pci modem. Any suggestions please. I've had broadband for
a couple of years and this has never been a problem before.

Same as mine which gives no probs.
You could try installing the most recent drivers which I have put up on
http://www.uk-bug.net/index.php .
Are you sure the microfilters are OK. If there is a correlation between
adsl-dropping and picking up a handset then you could do with better ones.
Checked your settings recently? Do ALT-P from the Conexant Control Panel. In
particular check Line Setup/Modulation which should be G.dmt.
Could even be a physical wiring problem (these RJ11 connectors can become
terribly erratic) - try a different cable (if you have one handy) between
the BT outlet and the card.

Hi - an alternative would be to get BT to come out and check your line.
I was getting slight crackles when using the phone, and the DSL was
dropping from time to time. Tried everything I could and eventually
phoned BT (my ADSL is with Demon though). They tested the line remotely
- no issues.

I said it was still a problem so they sent someone round. The chap said
that my pair of wires in the roadside cabinet was "hanging off". I
didn't think it could have been that bad since analogue calls never
dropped, but that was the end of the problem so he was right...
