I use a large surge protector with six three point sockets, an input phone
socket and two outlet ones. Does it matter where the filters go, and should
there be more than one on such a set-up?

Regards

I would put a filter in the incoming BT socket, run the modem/router
from the ADSL port of that and connect the phones via the surge
protector to the phone port of the microfilter.

That's true, I have sent a abuse report to his news provider,
news.astraweb.com for using foul language.

It makes no difference.. the ADSL should work either side.. the surge
protector will do nothing.

Thanks for the responses, especially Philt, whose advice I followed and saw
download speed go from 4305 to 5568!

Thanks again

Unless your surge protector specifically mentions any form of DSL I
would leave it out of the equation. Just because there is some type
of telephoney thru circuit doesn't mean that it is compatable with all
telephoney products

It can block/degrade the DSL signal, but as the OP has experimented &
found it to work this is all superfluous to the thread..
