Hi a friend of mine is having problems with their talk talk adsl and phoned
up the helpline. After going through a load of settings etc she was told
that her 15 metre extension cord had worn out and that she should get an
ADSL enabled extension cord.

They don't usually 'wear out'! It *might* be causing teh problem, but
TalkTalk will say anything to get people off the line.

Get her to move the PC close to the phone socket, temporarily, and use a
short cable (one probably came from Talk Talk). If it still fails, she
can phone up and shout at them.

Well I suggest she does just that, I don't know about the existing cable
being worn out, but if it's the usual flat cable then it will be susceptible
to electrical interfearance. Of course this may still be a bum steer from
talk talk.

I've just bought a double screened cable from homebase of all places, this
has enabled my modem to sync at 5.6meg instead of 4.5meg previously. These
unfortunately are only in 3m & I believe 5m lengths.
