I have posted the following query elsewhere on another NG but I hope
nobody minds me posting it here as well as I need to find out what is
wrong.
I have a feeling that the question that I am going to pose here has
already been aired, but at that time I did not have Broadband myself so
I have to apologise for not looking at the answers. I now have ADSL
recently installed and am trying to use Skype for Peer 2 Peer sound
communication, an area in which I have a great interest and use a lot. A
friend of mine has been communicating with me from the states and he
seemed steady and very clear yet another friend in Ireland has had
breakage's in transmission and cut-offs while talking to me.
We both feel its Windows XP, can anyone tell me what might be happening
and what tweaks, (if any), would cure the situation. We were both using
headsets but we used loudspeakers to hear each other rather than the
earpiece. There was no acoustic feedback whatsoever. As this is an area
that means a lot to me I would really appreciate some expert advice to
solve our problems.

Because I suppose on account of a post I read in either this newsgroup
or another one in which it was stated that XP and Broadband did not
always work very well together. I am sorry that just now I cannot locate
or remember the source so I will have to ask you to believe me when I
say that I did see it posted. That post, together with my friend in
Dublin's present experiences he is having with his Broadband has led to
the assumption.

Especially if your friend is having other issues with his broadband
connection that is likely to be the cause of the problem - not your 2
machines.
