Currently being a cable guy and rapidly wishing I wasn't! I am thinking
about going ADSL. My problem, which I only just thought of, is that I have
two BT phone lines, one has BT's call minder (answerphone service) and the
other has BT's Call divert in place. Does anyone know if these services
impact at all on the line quality etc for ADSL connections?

Ron

Hi,

I have Call Divert and 1571 on the same ADSL enabled line and have had
no problems.

Regards,

Doug.

No problem at all, as the ADSL signal is RF. AIUI, it's against BT
policy to provide ADSL on PBX hunting group lines, and there is some
problem with most, if not all, security alarm lines.

You can see their point
"Ive got a problem on my broadband"
"what is your phone number"
"Oh XXXXXXXXX"
BT tries a fault test and gets any one of 30 lines haha!.

I am not sure, but ISTR that SOME alarm lines have a permanent monitor on
them so if cut, they signal a issue ...That probably interferes with
broadband.

The jokes on you as it is possible to test an individual line on a hunt
group as is it being possible to have specific services on specific lines
(the one which springs to mind is redcare, which is often provided on a line
in a hunt group)

You are talking about Redcare, which of course is compatable with DSL, all
other alarms dial out & these are the ones which require filtering (as close
to the NTE as possible)
