Adding Wireless to an Existing Home LAN

I have not seen this mentioned and was not able to find anything on the
Linksys site, Google searches for Wireless LAN setup's produce millions of
hit. I would appreciate a pointer in the right direction.

My setup is like this:

Etherfast Cable Modem (Linksys) ----> Etherfast Cable/DSL Router --->
4xPC's + 1xMac

I want to add a Linksys "Wireless-B Broadband Router - 802.11b" to the
system for Wireless capability

When I cable between the "uplink" socket on the Router and the "Internet"
socket on the Wireless Router not much happens except for the "Wireless-B"
and "Power" LEDs on the front panel which stay on continuously. The
"Internet" LED blinks, sometimes brightly and sometimes faintly. There is
no indication from my PC that the Wireless Router is installed.

I tried a cable between the Router uplink and the Wireless router socket #1
(there is room for 4 devices to be cat-5 cabled into the wireless router.
That didn't do anything except turn on the #1 LED on the front panel.

I don't need the Router functions of the Wireless adaptor at this time but
may in the future want to extend the 5 devices allowed by the Router with
the 4 additional ports on the Wireless router by using the "Uplink" socket
on the Router and cabling to the Internet socket on the Wireless unit.

I would appreciate your advice.

connect the two routers together using the ordinary LAN sockets. Don't
use te internet socket on your wireless unit. You should also not
need to use the uplink socket, any decent router will autosense whats
on teh other end.

You also need to disable DHCP on the wireless router.
