adding a WIN98-SE system to LAN

I have just plugged and WIN98-SE computer into my router. The LAN already
has two WIN XP systems on it. I would appreciate recommendations as to the
best way to add the WIN98-SE to the LAN, including any protocols I should
disable for security reasons.

Richard, thanks for the references. These look like excellent resources for
the advanced user, but I didn't see any help on adding a WIN98-SE computer
to a WIN XP LAN.
