I currently have :-Cable modem -- ethernet -- router -- ethernet -- 1st PC
router -- wifi -- 2nd PC
The modem is ntl:home and the router a Linksys BEFW11S4 wireless access
point/router.
Both PC's are XP and file and internet sharing are working OK
I have now tried to add (wifi) a laptop running 98SE,
I can see and share files across the network but I cannot connect to the
internet
I didn't want to run the XP network wizard for fear of it messing up what I
already have?
Any advice?
Thanks ....... Allan

Are you using DHCP? Have you got the IP address of the router set in
the default gateway of the laptop?

If you open up a commaqnd prompt and type "ipconfig /all" (without the
quotes) whaqt does that show? Is the correct gateway address and DNS
addresses shown?

Thanks for your help - got it working now - not really sure how.
I also have an etherlink card which worked OK when I connected direct to the
router.
When I removed that the wireless connection started working, I presume it
was trying to use the etherlink card to connect by default.
Not knowing why things work bothers me a little but I'm not going to spend a
lot of time fixing something thats working . usually!!!
Thanks again - Allan
