Adding Server to Domain

When attempting to add a 2003 server to an existing
domain, located on a different subnet, the system
prompts "Cannot find Network Path" or "No Provider
available for Network" The KB refers to similar
situations related to DNS and WINS, however is not
specific. Any suggestions to resolve the path issue. I
verified all connectibity between the sites.

Hi,
I have the exact problem. I have everything very
simple, the same network, only have 2 Windows 2003
Standard Server and 2 XP. All the XP join the doamin ok,
But the W2K3 server cannot join the domain saying Network
path not find.

Please let me know do you have any solution:

Without a name server the W2k3 server will not
be able to find a DC in order to join the domain.
Have the W2k3 server point towards a name
server on existing domain. If you are not running
a name server e.g., WINS or DNS you can use
a lmhosts file:

The new server needs a path to the current DC. Either you can't get
there due to a routing/addressing/networking issue or it can't tell
it's a DC due to a DNS or possibly WINS issue. Can't tell which yours
is given the lack of information, but the basics are to make sure you
can reach the system across the network (address, netmask, gateway,
physical layer, etc.) and that the new server has the correct DNS
entry.

Jeff,
Thanks for replying. I can ping the the DC from the new
server. The ipconfig -all shows the correct DNS entry.
There is no WIN server because I think I don't need it.
What else can I look?

Open a dos prompt and run nslookup against the domian
name and hit enter. Does the name resolve to a tcp/ip address?
