The sequence is:
install the new server as a member server.
run dcpromo on the new server.
run dcpromo on the old server to make it a member server.
rename the old server
run dcpromo on the old server to make it a DC
run dc promo on the new server to make it a member server
change the name on new server with the name of the original server (that one
that you want to mantain)
run dcpromo on the new server.
recreate shares, application etc. on the new server.
Use this strategy you obtain: the new server has the name of the old server.
You have two DCs. You have nothing to do on clients.
