Adding to network

I have a Draytech Vigor wireless adsl modem/router. I am running a
small home network of 2 PCs (on XP) and 2 printers connected to it.

I want to add another PC. The modem/router has only 4 network cable
connectors. I assume that I have to buy a hub.

How do I connect the hub? Do I run the hub from 1 of the network
connectors on the Draytech and connect the new pc to it?

Many thanks in anticipation,

Yes, except these days plain-old hubs have pretty much been replaced by
switches.

Yes. The hub/switch will probably have an uplink port on it, which you
connect to the router in the same way as your existing kit. If it
doesn't have an uplink port you can connect it with a crossover cable to
one of the regular ports.

Many modern switches (and those built into routers) have automatic
detection of 'polarity' so you don't even need a specific uplink port
or a crossover cable. You just connect and the hardware works things
out for you.

You've got wireless. Just get one of those USB Belkin 802.11g wireless
network adapters that Argos are doing for £24.99

Perhaps I'm missing something here but why have the printers running
off the router?

Probably because the router has a print server built into it? It's
quite a common 'extra' nowadays.

If the printer is attached to a computer, then the computer needs to be
switched on if another computer on the network wants to send a print job
to it.

Hehee.. must admit when I wrote the followup I didn't mean to send it
untill I'd given the matter more thought.

Anyway, perhaps a splitter box would do the job ( cheap ) so you can
run two printers off one port ? Otherwise a cheap 4 port switch or
Connors idea of a wireless card

Cheers
