Adding 98 client to win2k domain

Could someone out there tell me the steps that needs to be
taken to set up a win98 machine to join a win2k domain. I
believe I have the win2k part of it right, but I can't
figure out how to configure the 98 machine to point to the
domain. I can setup a 2k client with no problem BUT I'm
lost when it comes to adding a 98 client.

Any encouraging words of advice and teachings would be
greatly appreciated! THANX N ADVANCE
The Rookie/Wayne B.

A Windows 98 PC cannot join a Windows 2000 domain in the same way that NT,
2000 or XP clients can. Right-click the network icon on the desktop and
select Properties, then highlight the Client for Microsoft Networks entry
and click Properties. You can log onto an NT domain with the settings
there, but that's all that happens - the password and ID will be
authenticated against the domain.

Hi Richard, I've already gone thru those steps with no
success. In the NT domain box, I type in the 2k domain
name that I want it to join. After I boot it up again, I
input the user name and the password. The Domain is
already filled in. After I hit enter, it tells me --
> "Microsoft Networking" No domain server was available

to validate your password. You may not be able to gain
access to some network resources. OK <> CANCEL If I
choose OK, it just logs me into the same account that I
was already in with no noticeable changes. What's my
problem, I'm lost Wayne B.

Apparently this PC is not seeing the domain controller. Can it see the rest
of the network? Can you ping the domain controller either by name or by IP
address? Is the name of the domain or the domain controller longer than
eleven characters?

My problem was that I wasn't logging in with the account
and password that I had set on the DC. I never set it on
the client. I kept using the local login, not remembering
that it was not validated with the server. (SLEEP
DEPRIVATION) That's my story and I'm stickN with it.
Thanx Richard Wayne B.
