nI want to add a server to a domain. I guess it will be a member server???
Now, do I need a server OS on there or ANy OS at all? Also I wat the clients
to be able to access it - mostly for storage. Do I just add it to the domain
as I would a regular computer? What is the best way to do this? thanks in
advance.

Aloha SANMAN07,

What OS you need depends upon what you want to do with it. If you want more
than a handful of clients to access it or if the data on it is important
then I would certainly use a server OS.

And for a member server, yes, you just add it to the domain like a regular
computer.

Well I think it will be for storage since the DC is low on space on drive C:
But there will be about 40 clients having access to it.
Is it true that the OS on the member sever will have to be Windows server
2003, but not the version for Small Business Server? So would XP PRO do?
thanks

NO, you cannot use SBS for that. SBS must be a DC. You need Windows Server
standard edition.

Aloha SANMAN07,

I'm with Bill, I'd use Windows Server 2003 standard edition for that role.

I wouldn't use XP Pro to serve files to 40 clients. 4 clients with occasional
use sure, but not 40.
