Once a team has been created, the secondary NIC should be connected to an
active data port on the same subnet, right?

Thanks

Yes it should be; teaming is there for fault tolerance and load balancing.
You see the NIC's are both attaches to a switch, the software creates a
Transmit Load Balancing team, if for any reason those same NIC's are instead
connection to a switch that supports dynamic link aggregation (802.3ad), the
team will form a aggregated link that supports both transmit and receive
load balancing otherwise its just for outbound load.

- Best Regards -

They should be the same subnet and same IP. If you also setup load balancing, the speed will be double as displayed.

If the secondary nic is connected to a non routable vlan, such as a print
vlan, have I eliminated the whole scope of redundency with adapter teaming?

Thank you
