Ad-hoc wireless Versus Wireless Router

While I am reasonably happy with wireless ad-hoc, in certain parts of the
house I get extreme slowness and low signal strength.
Would a wireless router eradicate this or could I still possibly have speed
and signal issues?
Small house - max distance from host 15 metres as the crow flies.

Ad-Hoc is based on two Wireless adapters.
Better connection? It would depend on the Router that you get vs.your
current Wireless adapters .
Some Routers have a better Antenna and stronger transmitter than some
adapters and might provide better signal.
In general Routers provide more stable connection and add security to the
System.
Given their current price there is No reason to stay with Ad-Hoc.
