ad hoc network between XP and Vista

Hi.i wanted to connect two laptops which one is running XP and zone alarm
firewall and another Vista home premium with norton internet security.But
i've got a problem because the computers cannot see each other and i cannot
access shared directories..i tried everything from switching off firewalls to
configuring manually the network.could anybody help me,please?

There is two aspects in this issue.
1. Do your AD-Hoc connetion actully work?
2. Sharing.
Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network

As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what it is
allowed to be shared.
