I do this.
You will find extensive articles on home networking in the XP help. Read
about ICS.
I assume you will use two network adpators, but you can use an access point
and an adaptor.
Follow the directions that came with your network adaptors to install your
networking hardware on each machine. One adaptor goes on the main PC
connected to the internet (A). The other goes on the PC you want to share
(B). Set them both to AdHoc.
On PC A, use the home networking wizard to configure networking, use the
option to save to a floppy disk (or choose to run the wizard on PC B). Put
the floppy in B and run the file that XP created (it's the wizard) to
configure networking. If it asks anything about sharing or making B a ICS
client, say yes.
For ICS, on A, go to the properties for the internet connection, find the
Advanced tab, check the boxes related to ICS to allow other network users to
connect through this. This makes A an ICS Host. For B, you want it to be an
ICS client.
Enable ICF firewall on A. Do _not_ enable ICF on B.
On B, the icon should appear automatically when it detects the association
between adaptors. You only need enter a site in the browser to test it.
