HI people, not sure if this is the right place for it, however I can't find
anywhere else that may be able to help.

I have a laptop, and a desktop pc, with wireless cards, laptop has a Dlink
DWL 650+, and the PC has a Dlink DWL 120. I have set both devices to ch 5,
and given both devices the same ssid. Th IP of my laptop wireless card is
192.168.2.12, and the Desktop has 192.168.2.13, and both devices are set to
ad-hoc mode.

Now, I cannot get connected to each other, even without IP addresses. I
have tried to use it with and without "Use Windows to configure my wireless
network" on both systems, but still no joy.

any advice on how to fix this problem, will be appreciated.

Turn of WEP. Set Open Authentication.

How are you determining that you're not connected? Connection status? PING?
File sharing?

Ron Bandes, CCNP, CTT+, etc.

check both have the same netmask (eg 255.255.255.0) and the same gateway
(eg the desktop's IP).
