AD 2003 migration issue

Hi

I am in the planning stages of moving from an NT 4 based domain to a W2k3 domain. Its a small domain and originally i was simply going to perform an in-place upgrade. However, I now have a new server ( currently running w2k server) acting as a member server in the 4.0 domain that I would like to use as my main DC in the new 2003 domain. MS says you must upgrade your PDC first and then your other boxes. I only have ONE 2003 server license which I was going to use on the new box, which leaves me kinda stumped. Would it be possible to upgrade the current PDC to W2k with AD and THEN upgrade the new box running as a member server to a Ad 2003 DC. I have 2000 license support so this would be a nice option if possible. I am open to suggestions if anyone has experience or thoughts on this. The other possibility I am considering would be to install nt4 on the new box ( if I can find drivers ), make it the PDC, then do an in place upgrade of it to the Ad 2003 DC and then upgrade the current Nt 4 PDC to a w2k DC in the 2003 AD domain????
