I have now also tried (on the DC) changing the DNS Server used to the address
of the Router. The Same problem occurs.

I am now thinking that it could be something with the Group Policy, but I
have disabled it from taking effect on computers, and it hasnt made any
difference.

It may be of no cosequence, since a CLEAN DC server cannot directly access
the internet after being set up with AD, but the original DC had ISA Server
installed on it (but no longer does).

The Clean DC (which cannot access the internet) was only configured as an
additional domain controller. No other configuration was performed (except
manipulating the DNS Server in TCP/IP Properties)

I'm running a small network, and have run into MAJOR internet problems.

Basically what happens is that the 'save' function of internet explorer has
been stuffed by some part of the AD architecture. What happens is that
machines can open downloads (if they press open when they first click
download), but if they click 'save,' the file transfer window will just
disappear, and one PC even downloads 1 Seconds worth (ie. if the download
speed is 150kb/s, then it will download 150kb and say it is finished).

This is why I think it must be one of these AD technologies:

1. ALL Domain Controlled PC's have this problem
2. Non-Domain PC's DO NOT have this problem.
3. Another Server (2003) was promo'd to Additional Domain Controller and the
old one 'pulled,' with the same result.

Neither of the Domain PC's could download from the internet either.

This is My Internet Topology:

Router controlling NAT and Gateway
DC controlling DNS and DHCP
Clients configured as such through DHCP.

Does anyone know what is causing this - obviously I don't want to have to
kill the Domain and recreate.... Even worse than the server melting down - at
least i'd have backups.

Is the DC also running RRAS? Try to disable RRAS, do you have the same issue?

I have located the problem. It was unrelated to the AD and RRAS setup. It was
in fact due to the Netgear Router I have as my NAT activating its builtin
Trend Micro Security Service automatically. For some reason, although no
rules were set, it seemed to be affecting requests to the internet. Disabling
the feature by disabling the feature and downgrading the firmware seemed to
fix the problem.
