HOw does AD handle copy / paste actions,
when I have 2003 file servers in a 2000 domain who collect daily thousands
of jpg files from xp client machines
Will every transfer need to ask permission..
Does this generate a lot of traffic , witch can slow down the process of
copying.
Problem is the collecting of files works fast for like 1 hour then the
transfers seems to freeze and keep waiting, are there time outs, can AD have
anything to do with it..

During the initial session establishment between two machines in an AD
environment, the user account is authenticated based on the loggged on token
of the user establishing the session. This is a one shot deal in the
beginning. No it will not ask for permission over and over again, nor will
it time out, well in theory as long as the session is not broken and the
Kerb ticket gets renewed every 7 days.

What you are seeing is obviously something else happening. It also depends
on version of 2003, (SBS?) , SP level, workstation OS type and SP, what DNS
addresses everyone is using in their ip properties, how many are copying at
the same time, type and speed of switch, is VLANs exist, it could be
spyware, it could be another app on the server doing it, it could be SMB
signing (which goes back to what type of workstations), etc.

So you see, there are many variables. If you can elaborate, that *may* help,
but not guaranteed.

did you mean that every copy paste action relies on the same ticket that was
suppied at the logon process of the account.
Or does every copy paste action serperate asks for permission in AD

Keep in mind, if you are pasting, then I assume you will be pasting to a
mapped drive or an already established UNC, therefore that means the session
was already established, hence no prompting should be occuring after that.
