Acess Point to Access Point?

I think I know the answer to this, but wanted to ask the experts.

Is it possible to get two access points (actually, 802.11G routers - a
Linksys WRT54GS and a Linksys WRT54GX) to talk to each other
(wirelessly)? I would like to use them to bridge between two compters
that it is difficult to wire between. If it makes any difference, both
computers are running FC 4.

Thanks!

Yes if the firmware supports bridging. Check the documentation of the
two APs.

Why don't you just use two Wireless NIC?

It's possible to put a new firmware on WRT54Gs. OpenWRT will allow
you to ssh in, and then you're playing with a computer with a wireless
card and five ethernet ports - and working WPA. It'll run on the
WRT54GS, but it may not on the WRT54GX. There are also other
firmwares available, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrt54g

Thanks Davide - I appreciate your reply. I wanted to use the routers
since they have higher gain antennas than the NIC cards.

I will look into the firmware issue.

I guess I should always check Wikipedia - what a great resource!
Thanks for the pointer, I will look into the revised firmware. I
assume if I upgrade the 54GS and make it appear as a NIC, then I do not
need to upgrade the 54GX (which doesn't seem to have as much support).

Thanks again.
