We have just moved to Server 2003 with AD working. One of
our users leaves her desk & when she comes back her
account is locked out & she can not access the network.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Check the account names and passwords all the services on her machine
are running under.

All indications from her is that it only happens when she
leaves her desk. At that time her screensaver kicks on &
when she trys to log back in her account gets locked out.

I will check all services & see what accout name is being
used to log in. Do you think that one of the services is
being logged in by admin account & that would be enough to
do this?

It sounds like someone is messing with her machine when she walks away from
it and locking her out by trying to guess her password when the screen saver
prompts for it. Reset the screen saver to a very low time (like one
minute), wait for it to activate, then come "out of it" and enter the
credentials to get back into the machine. Does it fail and lock her out
then? Do the credentials work? If you get back into the machine just fine
with the credentials then someone is messing with the machine when she
leaves.

One other remote possibility is that some application is trying to kick
"off" the screen saver by displaying something on the desktop and is failing
over and over because it can't give credentials.

1. Clean up the machine. Remove anything from the machine that it doesn't
need to do its job.

2. Run Ad-Aware or Spybot S&D to cleanup the machine from all the "spyware"
that is probably on it.

3. Either get rid of the screen saver or at least remove the feature from it
that forces you to give credentials to get out of the screen saver. If you
are going to be away from the machine for a while, either just log out or
"lock" the machine with "Ctr-alt-Del" --> "Lock Workstation".

4. Keep and eye out for people fooling with the machine when she is away
from it.
