I have created some shares on my 2003 server, created users and respective
groups and granted those groups full rights to the shares, but they are
unable to access them unless they are in the Domain Admins group, why is this?

Thank you

Share permissions and NTFS Permission are two different things. Giving them
permission to the share does only that,..it gives permissions to the share.
Giving permissions to the files and folders in the share is done with NTFS
Permissions.

Assuming they have share and ntfs permissions it should work. Do they get
any particular error message or just an access denied? Verify that the
users are indeed members of the global group you created. Remember that
domain local groups only will work on domain member computers if the domain
is not in native mode. Also if you added the users to the group after they
were logged on, have them logoff and logon again to refresh their security
token to include the new group membership. -- Steve

The default share of the D: drive has no Domain Users in it, I added that,
then changed the rights from just "Read" and it worked fine.

Thanks for all of the help here folks.

The default share you probably are talking about was one of the
administrative shares that can only be accessed by administrators. These
shares are hidden as would be indicated by a $ after the share name such as
D$ . --- Steve
