I use iTunes SSH-tunnelled over the internet from work to home all the time.
I use RendezvousProxy to help with the tunneling.
I have a 200Kb upload from my home machine (NTL cable), and 2Mb download at
work. I don't have any problems.
Also bear in mind that work's internet access is shared between up to 650 PCs.
The great thing about using iTunes this way rather than Shoutcast or Windows
Media Streaming (both of which I've used before without problem) is that you
get access to your full music library that you can play in any order, rather
than rely on a pre-made playlist or a VNC/Remote Desktop session into your
home machine to change tracks.
