Accessing a LAN resource using WAN IP

I recall a setting on an old LinkSys (BEFSR11) router that let you connect
to an internal LAN resource by providing the external URL to it. Eg. If I
had a box that is accessible from the net I could connect to it from
within my LAN using the WAN IP.

I now have a LinkSys WRT55AG and for simplicity would like to be able to
create one icon (with one IP, the WAN address) on my laptop that will allow
me to access a computer on my network.

I can access it with the LAN address while inside my network
and with the WAN IP when outside.

Does anyone recall what this setting was called and if it is an option on my
current router?

Thanks

Jack, you should ask Linksys support the question. This newsgroup supports
Microsoft's Broadband Networking hardware and software only.
