Hi,
I have two computers (a win2000 domain-server and an old win98) in a LAN.
I can ping from one to the other. I installed on both computers NetBeui.
The disc on win98 is shared for everybody. Access is set on share level.
When i try a 'net use' from the win2000 or with the menu Tools/Map network
drive to the share disc of the win98, it works if i do: \\10.0.0.60\c but
NOT if i do \\pro180\c (name of win98): in that case, i get: "the account is
not authorized to log in from this station".
When i do 'net view pro180' in a ms-dos box, i get: "access is denied".
When i open on the win2K computer the Microsoft windows network window, i
can see a computer with the workgroup of the win98 computer, but when i
click on it, i get: " win98 (name of workgroup) is not accessible; network
name cannot be found".
Any idea why and how to solve this?
Thanks
Kevin
I installed on both computers NetBeui and now it works ... only if i do:
\\10.0.0.60\c
If i do: \\pro180\c (name of win98), i get: "the account is not authorized
to log in from this station".
Strange, because i can ping pro180. On the win98 box, the share is set on
"full" without password.
I miss something, i"m afraid of ...
