my home network consists of
Dell Dimension 4400 - p4 - running win xp with sp2
Toshiba Qosmio f25 - running win med 05

I use a lynksys wireless g to connect them .. I also use internet 2005
internet sec. program.

I've had this setup for about 5 months and all works well ... EXCEPT for the
fact I can't get the laptop to access the Lacie 250gb usb hardrive I've got
connected to the Dell ....

when trying to set up the network place connction I get the following error

"\\desktop\Lacie(I) is not accessible. You might not have permission to use
this network resouirce. Conctact the administrator of this server to find
out if yoiu have access permission.

Not enough serverstorage is avaiable to process this commend"

the h/d has over 70% unsued space ....

from the dell destop I can access every device on the laptop and copy /
transfer data to the usb hard drive ?

what gives? any suggestions?? I store a lot of images on the usb h/d and
its a real pain not be able to access this storage device on my desktop?

any advice much appreciated!

Not enough server storage is available to process this command error -
by MVP Hans-Georg Michna

This error indicates that you are falling foul of the IRPStackSize bug.
The problem is on the machine you are attempting to connect to, not the
machine where you see the error message. On the computer you are
attempting to connect to, check the event viewer for an event ID 2011.

Usual fix : You need to fix a parameter called IRPStackSize

On the computer you are attempting to connect to, Set the IRPStackSize
back to the default (15 ). Perform the following steps:

1. Start regedit.
2. Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\lanmanserver\parameters.
3. Double-click IRPStackSize (or if this registry setting doesn't
exist, create it with type DWORD and ensure the case is correct).
4. Change the base to decimal, set the value to 15, and click OK.
5. Reboot the computer.

Norton AV is usual suspect for breaking it. There's a KB article about
this, too:

Antivirus Software May Cause Event ID 2011 (Q177078)
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;177078

Me again - And you have a Norton product, right?
