I have a small home LAN consisting of two laptops, one running XP Pro the
other Win2000, and two desktops, one running XP Pro the other Win95B.
Installed in the 95 machine is an extra hard drive for storage purposes only
(no operating system installed on that hard drive). I have been running this
LAN with a hard wire router in behind a DSL modem for the last two years
with no problems. I installed a wireless router to gain mobility for the
laptops. Since this installation, everything works great except the XP
desktop can no longer access the shared drives on the 95 machine. I have
full access from both laptops to the shared drives and folders on the 95
machine and the XP desktop. The XP desktop can access the shared resources
on both laptops. The Win95 machine can access the shared resources on both
laptops and the XP desktop. I can ping each computer from the other
computers. The problem is that the XP desktop will not access the shared
drives on the Win95 machine. I am not a real expert with the command prompt
or dos and if there are any suggestions for resolving these problems
utilizing these tools explicit syntax information would be appreciated
designating required syntax operations including where spaces are needed. I
do not know if this post is in the right section or not, if not please
advise me where I might post this to aide in resolving this issue.
Thanks.
