I have installed a Server 2008 Standard with Services DC/AD, DNS, Files,
DHCP. Now I have joined all PC to the Domain with now problem. However,
when I try to map the drives on the PC's, Entire Network - Windows Network -
XYZ I receive an Error saying
XYZ IS NOT ACCESSIBLE. YOUR MIGHT NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO USE THIS NETWORK
RESOURCE. CONTACT THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THIS SERVER TO FIND OUT IF YOU HAVE
ACCESS PERMISSION.

The strange thing is that I can ping the server and even map it with the IP
Address of the Server. Only by name it does not work. I will attache the IP
config of PC and server maybe that helps. Any help would be much
appreciated, I drives me mad now for weeks.

Hello Somchai,

On the server remove x.x.x.3 from the DNS server settings on the NIC. In
the domain use only domain internal DNS server which is the DC. The router
is not DNS server. If you need that for internet access configure a FORWARDER
in the DNS server properties in the DNS management console to your ISP's
DNS server.

Also make sure all machines are listed in the DNS server in your zone.

Best regards

Dear Bob,

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I certainly will read your articles and try
to follow these steps you suggest. FYI, I am not running Vista, all PC's are
still running XP but I assume that is the same problem.

I will keep you informed about progress and once more thanks for your help.
