Access point throughput software?

Running a DLink 900AP+ with the 520+ PC card. Is there any software
available that graphs the signal strength and quality from the AP
similar to the PC card? Plus, does anyone have tweaking tips for this
combo? All I've done so far is make up a tinfoil parabolic antenna.
Helped some, but still only get around 70% on the strength meter. About
50 feet distance and three wooden walls between.

Seems the connection gets lost sometimes when moving large files,
especially when it gets around 50% or below. I think the PCI card is
losing the connection but I'd like to verify. Or is there no way to
approximate hard-wired reliability?

That seems to be a pretty common thing with the budget access points.
Guesses are that the processor gets overloaded or something like that.

With the 900+AP I've found that its firmware related. Back up a version or
two and then test it again. You can use the logs or a SNMP trap to view the
AP activity, you'll notice that it reboots. If you don't see this happening,
then it would be the PCI card...
